Kreuzjoch summit, 2,200 m - Schlick, 1,640 m - Froneben, 1,300 mRouting information

  • Moderate hike
  • Total hiking time (without breaks): approx. 3 hours
  • Mountain trail ascent and altitude height: 60 m in 45 min
  • Descent altitude: 900 m in 2 ¼ hours
  • Starting point: Top station of Kreuzjoch
  • End point: Middle station of Froneben
  • Alternative: From the Froneben middle station to the Schlicker Alm, 340 metres of altitude, there and back in 2 hours
  • Season: Operating times of the Schlick 2000 cable car during the summer: from June to October.

Carry out the mountain ascent from Fulpmes with the Schlick 2000 cable car up to the top station of Kreuzjoch. There is a short altitude trail to the viewing platform and back from here. Continue from the top station to the Kreuzjoch summit cross and back down the descent. There is a native plant trail here. Many alpine flowers bloom here in the early summer. Further carry on down the very nice hiking trail to the Schlicker Alm and the middle station of Froneben. Descent with the lift. This is a very nice tour even with children; from the Schlicker Alm, there is an adventure trail with many different stations set out, which leads past the reservoir.

 

Alternative: Continue on the hiking path from the Middle station of Froneben or on the ski slope to the Schlicker Alm and back again. There is also a Hütten-Taxi to the Schlicker Alm (advance booking necessary).

 

Break stop: Top station of Kreuzjoch, middle station of Froneben. You should observe the cable lift's operating hours. Schlicker Alm lodge is open from May to the end of October.

 

Waldraster Jöchl, 1,878 m - Maria Waldrast monastery, 1,638 mRouting information

  • Rise in altitude: 300 m in 1 ½ hours
  • Descent altitude: 300 m in 1 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Top station of Serlesbahn (lift)
  • End point: Top station of Serlesbahn (lift)
  • Alternative: From the monastery without lift to Mieders. Descent a further 600 metres of altitude in 2 hours
  • Season: Serlesbahn is open in summer from May to October and winter from December to March; along cleared hiking trails. You should observe the cable lift's operating hours.

From Mieders, make the mountain ascent by the Serlesbahn lift. Take the hiking trail to the Ochsenhütte mountain hut; from there, take the mountain trail through the forest to Waldraster Jöchl (signposted as Gleinser Jöchl in some parts). There is a great view of Serles and over the Ziller valley mountains to the east at the summit cross. Descent to the Maria Waldrast monastery. Back on the forest trail, there is a short ascent in the direction of Mieders initially, then make the descent with the mountain cable car. The path at the first junction leads back to past the Ochsenalm, the next junction takes you directly to the lift, you will experience a short ascent once again over the last few metres.

 

Alternative: From the Maria Waldrast monastery, turn left at the second junction to the Gasthof Sonnenstein and continue on to Mieders.

 

Break stop: Top station of Serlesbahn, Ochsenhütte mountain hut, Gasthof Sonnenstein restaurant (you should observe the cable lift's operating hours). Maria Waldrast monastery is open all the year round.

 

Elferhütte mountain hut, 2,080 m – Karalm lodge, 1,750 m – Pinnisalm lodge, 1,550 mRouting information

  • Moderate hike
  • Total hiking time (without breaks): approx. 4 ½ - 5 hours
  • Ascent and high altitude trail in metres: 280 m in about 3 hours
  • Descent and ascent again, metres of altitude: 500 m in 1 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Top station of Elferbahn
  • End point: Top station of Elferbahn
  • Alternative: Descent through the Pinnis valley to Neustift, 550 metres of altitude from the Pinnisalm, done in 2 hours
  • Season: Elferbahn is open in summer from May to October. You should observe the cable lift's operating hours.

From the top station of Elferbahn, ascent to the Elferhütte mountain hut, continuing further on the panoramic trail until the Karalm. Two routes to the Karalm at halfway. Right at the junction, remain at that height and just before the lodge, there is about half a descent via a hairpin turn, the left turning goes directly to the Karalm, descent to Pinnisalm and an ascent yet again for a good hour up to the top station of Elferbahn.

 

Alternative: From the Pinnisalm, out of the valley to Neder and the Wiesenweg (path) back to the lift station, done in about 2 hours.

 

Break stop: Top station of Elferbahn, Pinnisalm lodge open from May to October; Elferhütte mountain hut and Karalm lodge are open from June to October

 

Sulzenauhütte mountain hut, 2,190 m – Grünauersee lake, 2,330 mRouting information

  • Moderate hike
  • Total hiking time (without breaks): approx. 5 ½ hours
  • Rise in altitude: 750 m in 3 hours
  • Descent altitude: 750 m in 2 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Sulzenauhütte car park
  • End point: Sulzenauhütte car park
  • Season: Mid-June to October

From the Sulzenauhütte car park, take the Hüttensteig, past the Sulzenaualm and the Sulzenau waterfall up to the Sulzenauhütte mountain hut, bear left from there in the direction of the Nürnberg Hütte until the Grünauersee lake. Descent along the same route. You can also choose to take the ascent or descent at the Grawa waterfall. Head downhill from the car park for about 10 minutes to the waterfall. It is truly impressive in early and mid summer.

 

Break stop: Grawaalm lodge, Sulzenaualm lodge, Sulzenauhütte mountain hut are open from June to October.

 

Falbesoner Ochsenalm lodge, 1,820 m - Regensburger Hütte mountain hut, 2,290 mRouting information

  • Rise in altitude: 1,100 m in 3 hours
  • Descent altitude: 1,100 m in 2 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Regensburger Hütte car park
  • End point: Regensburger Hütte car park
  • Season: Mid-June to October

From the Regensburg Hütte car park, take the forest trail to the quaint and cosy Ochsenalm. You can also choose to go by the road, the Klausäuele leisure centre can be accessed by the bridge. The forest ascent crosses the road 2-3 times. Take the Hüttensteig from the alpine pasture to the Regensburger Hütte. You need to continue for a short distance from the hut, heading into the valley on a fairly level surface where it is possible to get to the Hochmoor. Descent along the same route.
