Bacherwandalm lodge - Glücksgrat, 2,380 m – MischbachalmRouting information

  • Descent altitude: 1,250 m in 3 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Bergcristall Hotel
  • End point: Bergcristall Hotel
  • Season: June to October

Head into the valley from the hotel, the turning to the Bacherwandalm lodge comes up quite soon; continue on to the upper Bacherwandalm and to the highest point, the Glücksgrat with the summit cross. Start the descent to the other side towards the Mischbachalm lodge and up to Neugasteig, head into the valley to the waterfall and back to the hotel.

 

This mountain trail can be done without climbing sections for those hikers with plenty of endurance.

 

Break stop: Bacherwandalm lodge is open from June to October; Mischbachalm from June to September.

 

Peiljoch, 2,680 m – Sulzenauhütte lodgeRouting information

  • Rise in altitude: 1,100 m in 3 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Glacier cable car’s- Fernau middle station – Dresdner Hütte
  • End point: Sulzenauhütte car park
  • Season: July to September

The hike forms a section of the Stubai high-altitude path and the Wild-Wasser-Weg (wild water trail). You can get to Fernau middle station with the glacier cable car. Peiljoch is reached via the left side of the valley; the mountain trail is secured in part with stone blocks and with holding ropes at one section. There are plenty of stone mounds on Peiljoch and great views over the glaciers and the highest peaks of the Stubai Alps. The descent is made via the Wild-Wasser-Weg, past the newly formed glacial lake to the Sulzenauhütte mountain hut, Sulzenaualm and to the Sulzenauhütte bus stop.

Serles, 2,717 mRouting information

  • Descent altitude: 1,100 m in 2 ½ hours
  • Starting point: Kloster Maria Waldrast (monastery)
  • End point: Kloster Maria Waldrast (monastery)
  • Alternative: Descent from the summit with a height of 1,700 metres to Kampl.
  • Season: July to October

Ride up by car via Matrei to the monastery of Maria Waldrast (toll charge). From the monastery, there is an ascent on a good mountain trail to Serlesjöchl. There is a short climb from the Jöchl, which is made safe by holding ropes, across metal steps and a rock section; then steep summit climb with loose scree at some parts to the peak that opens up to wide, panoramic views. Descent along the same route.

 

Alternative: From the top station of Serlesbahn lift to the monastery and the summit; ascent with an extra 45 minutes, descent from Serlesjöchl towards Kampl, steep in some parts. 1 hour for the descent.

Elferspitze mountain, 2,505 m – Zwölferspitze mountain, 2,560 mRouting information

  • Ascent and high altitude trail in metres: 900 m in 3 ½ hours
  • Descent altitude: 800 m in 2 hours
  • Starting point: Top station of Elferbahn lift
  • End point: Top station of Elferbahn lift
  • Season: June to October

From the top station of Elferbahn lift to the Elferhütte mountain hut and on the pleasant mountain trail to the Elferspitze peak, the last few metres are secured by holding ropes. High altitude trail with a short descent to the Zwölfernieder and ascent to the Zwölferspitze peak, along the ridge, light climbing passages till a degree of difficulty 1 across flat rock surface, partly exposed, no holding ropes. Descent just like the ascent to the Zwölfernieder, continuing on over the beautiful panoramic trail to the Elferhütte hut and the top station of Elferbahn lift. You should observe the cable lift's operating hours.

Rinnensee lake, 2,646 m – Rinnenspitze mountain, 3,000 mRouting information

  • Rise in altitude: 1,300 m in 4 - 4 ½ hours
  • Descent altitude: 1,300 m in 3 hours
  • Starting point: Oberissalm lodge
  • End point: Oberissalm lodge
  • Season: July to October

By car to the Oberissalm (parking fees apply). Ascent to the Franz-Senn-Hütte mountain hut, continue across the stream to the left on a pleasant mountain trail to the Rinnensee lake and to the Rinnenspitze peak. The last 300 metres in height are somewhat steep and the summit ridge over rocks is secured with holding ropes. Marvellous view over many peaks and the underlying glacier. Descent along the same route.

Alternative: only up to the Rinnensee lake, 2,646 m; total walking time approx 1 ½ hours for the shorter route.
